Bringing STEM to Special Education!
Focus on STEM is a supplemental classroom library program developed to support literacy instruction using non-fiction topics in math and science. This classroom library has 60 unique titles available in print and online adapted versions at each level of instruction for students with mild, moderate, or severe disabilities. Students use this library to connect learned skills with real-life math and science content. Each print library set includes student books, teacher’s guides, audio CD’s, classroom posters, and other teaching tools. Included with the online adapted books are comprehension questions, vocabulary assessments, literacy strategies, non-fiction text features, and cross-content activities using level-based adaptations for students.

Some environmental support given and challenges provided.
The use of Level 1, 2, and 3 instruction and materials is flexible so teachers can decide to adjust the level as it suits the learner’s needs.
