Problem behaviors exhibited by students interfere with their learning, interactions with peers and adults, and school success. Educators and schools struggling with how best to handle behaviorally challenged students often respond reactively. They frequently pursue a punishment-based approach using time-out or in and out of-school suspensions even for minor infractions.
