Role of the SLP in a Verbal Behavior Classroom

The SLP plays an integral role as a multidisciplinary team member in a Verbal Behavior (VB) classroom. This training will provide and overview of VB, as well as suggestions for collaboration with team members within a VB classroom. The similarities between VB and speech therapy will also be discussed.

Presenter Biography: Marcy J. Pendleton received a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2003 and a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Bloomsburg University in 2005. She is a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Marcy primarily practices in a private special education school for students with autism spectrum disorder and emotional support. She has a wide range of experience and a strong knowledge base in providing skilled treatment to individuals with complex behavioral and educational challenges. She also has extensive knowledge in assessing and recommending Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems. Marcy is an adjunct faculty member in the speech-language pathology department at Misericordia University teaching the course Communication Disorders in Autism.
