AAC users deserve more than basic emotional expression. This workshop explores innovative strategies for nonspeaking individuals to communicate complex feelings, leading to better self-regulation, authentic connections, and effective self-advocacy. Learn practical techniques to help AAC users express their full emotional spectrum, be understood, and communicate their needs.

Presenter: Amanda Hartmann, Senior Speech Pathologist at AssistiveWare

Presenter Biography: Amanda is an Australian Speech-Language Pathologist with over 28 years of experience, which has led to a passion for working with children and young adults with disabilities. She has specialised skills and knowledge in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), literacy and technology. During her career she has presented on AAC and Assistive Technology to schools and organisations, as well as at national and international conferences. Currently, she divides her time between a busy private practice, as a consultant in AAC supporting teachers in classrooms, and at AssistiveWare. She also provides the AAC lectures to Speech Pathology students at the University of Queensland.
