The Minimal Pairs Approach is one of the most popular approaches for speech sound disorder treatment, but knowing when and how to use it makes all the difference. In this session, we’ll start with a clear explanation of what the Minimal Pairs Approach is and why it works. Then we’ll talk about when it’s the best fit, including which error patterns and clients benefit the most. Finally, we’ll look at clinical applications and share therapy activities that make sessions fun, engaging, and effective.

Presenter Biography: Hailey Van Asch is a licensed speech-language pathologist and the owner of Van Asch Speech Therapy, a mobile practice in Richmond, VA serving private clients and local school districts. She earned her B.S. in Education from the University of Virginia and an M.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Radford University, beginning her career as an SLP in 2017. Hailey is especially passionate about working with children with speech sound disorders but also has experience in early intervention and supporting gestalt language processors. Her clinical background spans skilled nursing facilities, home health, outpatient clinics, public schools, and private practice. Since starting her practice in 2021, Hailey has grown a team of four SLPs, built a social media following of more than 160,000 by sharing practical tips and insights for SLPs and parents, and collaborated with brands such as Vooks, JoyCat, and Bjorem Speech Publications.
