Speech Sound Elicitation & Target Word Selection That Works in Real Life
January 14, 2025 | 12:00pm CDT | 60 minutes | 0.1 ASHA CEUs
Many courses stop at “how to get the sound,” but what happens next is just as important. This session will help speech-language pathologists bridge the gap between sound elicitation and selecting functional, motivating targets that accelerate progress. In this session, we’ll explore quick, evidence-based strategies to help get a sound started, and discuss how to select functional, high-impact target words that align with each child’s needs, environment, and therapy goals. We’ll also cover how to balance complexity, frequency, and motivation to drive faster generalization, and share real-world therapy examples that combine elicitation and target selection for maximum engagement.
