Gestalt Language Processors and AAC

This presentation will prepare you to recognize gestalt language development and understand the relevant research and clinical application. It will review the differences between gestalt language development and analytic language development. It will highlight Natural Language Acquisition and the supportive stance clinicians can use with gestalt language processors. It will then go further by providing rich application to AAC systems. It will offer rich, interactive design considerations for attendees to synthesize information for next day, on the job, clinical use with their GLP AAC users.

Presenter Biography: Laura Hayes is a Speech Language Pathologist with a specialization in augmentative and alternative communication. She has over 15 years of AAC experience in both school and medical settings. Laura has presented at state, national, and international conferences such as the MSHA, HSHA, PATTAN, ATIA, and AAC in the Cloud. She has been published and supported both inpatient pediatric and educational AAC research. She helped author the GLP and AAC course for www.meaningfulspeech.com. She has a passion for working with individuals with complex communication needs that stems from supporting her disabled sister. She resides in St. Louis, MO and is married with three children, who are her inspiration as well.
